Mountain Majesty

Shooting information:
Date: 3/25/2008
1/500 F10 ISO 250 Sigma Lens 320MM
Location: Beartooth Mountain Range, Wyoming
I just wanted to share with you some more of our high country's beautiful creatures. This majestic Big Horn Sheep was standing above me on a cliff and I was so caught up in the moment. I absolutely love the look in this guys eyes, as "His Majesty" looks down on me from his elevated position.

Very nice. The current issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine has an article on Wyoming's photography hot spots, it's pretty interesting.

This picture is beautiful, as is this music in the background. I have friends who visit the west and share their pictures, and I realize just how much of this beautiful country I haven't seen yet and want to see. Big Horn Sheep, pronghorns. wolves, moose, big cats, and how many other things have I not seen, except in a zoo? A wonderful post!

Its look seems to be suggesting, "Follow me if you can!".

Majestic shot indeed. Thanks for the visit and the great comment.

I'm intrigued by the ``folds'' in the horns - just beautiful.

Majestic is an apt description of a marvelous shot! Thank you for sharing them with those of us who will never get the chance to see one ourselves.

Renie Burghardt said...

Awesome shot, Stacy!

I've been looking around on your blog, and you have the best photographs around! And you said my turkey was a good shot. Hah, not compared to that Tom you have on here. But then again, I just have a little Kodak digital, a humble camera takes humble pictures.

Thank you for visiting me. I'll be back to look around more here. You are a very talented photographer!

Best wishes,

Renie

Majestic is the perfect word! I love the textures of this. The rings on his horns show so clearly. I love this picture.

David said...

Wow, majesty indeed! He looks as if he's entirely above you, just deigning to turn his eyes downwards to get a nicer angle on his fine head.

Cheers,

When I was a kid I would read Jack O'Connors stories in Outdoor Life about sheep hunting and dream of someday hunting these majestic creatures. Your photo brought these memories flooding back.
