Computer troubles

5/16/2007~F6.3~ISO400~1/50~500mm
A quick post tonight to ask you all to be patient with me, as my computer crashed. Thankfully I was reading a fellow bloggers post a few weeks ago and was advised to back all my pictures up onto an external hard drive! Thank you Thank you Thank you! However, I am using a new platform and new (to me) p.c. so it will take me a bit to get my photo programs loaded and working again. I was messing around tonight and figured out how to shrink this picture for upload so I will continue to post photos each day.. I did however, loose all my feeds, and emails, (pout) so it will take me a bit to get you loaded into this computer, and caught up on your blogs. To all my family and friends that follow this blog, please email me so I can re-add your email to the new address book. I am getting the old pc repaired, luckily it was a manufacturer defect and they are going to fix it free of charge, even though the warranty had expired.
Thanks to everyone, and bare with me, it shouldn't take long to get things organized once again.

Ugh Stacey... what a nightmare. So glad you had thought to put your photos on another drive. Something we all should do. Hope it gets repaired soon and you are back to normal again.

Oh I hate it when that happens. But everyone should learn from this and back up their important stuff. Oh, and great shot. As usual.

Hi Stacey,
Yep, back up photos and email lists or addresses. We should all do it and maybe we need to have a theme day where nobody posts anything but everyone uses the day to back up their computers. Here are two of my blog.

Computers are one of those things...can't live with them...can't live without them!!! I am so glad you had your backup Stacey!!
I also don't think you need to ask anyone who loves your blog to be patient Stacey...we all appreciate your time and talent!
The Bison is beautiful!

Stacey,

I understand the dilemma. Dell replaced my mother board last summer - a housecall. I saw my computer in about 10,000 tiny pieces... After a week, I was back in business.

Hang in there.

I feel your frustration. My laptop was unusuable because the pin that connects the power supply broke off in the plug and was not able to power up the laptop. I was able to recover all of the info that was on my desktop but unfortunately was not able to get any of my email info back so had to start from scratch there. I took the laptop in to be fixed and they claimed that it didn't cover accidental damage. Luckily the folks at Circuit City were as frustrated as I was and replaced the laptop for me for free. I just had to pay $30 for them to pull all my info of the other. So thankful that they were able to do this.

I agree with others the fact that you are so willing to share your images is worth waiting a bit to see them.

An external hard drive where you can store your photos is the one of most important purchases you will ever make. My friend talked me into buying one and the next week my computer crashed. I was so thankful I did it. Nice Bison! One of my all time favorite animals.

Well, bummer about the computer - but an amazing photo, once again! I've been gone for a while, so it's nice to come over here and get caught up on your photos!

That is such a bummer...hope you get all the stuff back you need or want!

I can see that I've missed a lot here. WOW! I LOVE them all but I think my two favorites are the horned owl and the squirrel. The Squirrel is PRICELESS: the colors, the quaking fear-look on his little face and tail, the composition with him off to the side. So adorable! I once had a red squirrel that had lost it's mother. SO smart.

Stacey your soul is here on this page in these photos and it is so beautiful.

PS Yes I back up ALL my photos on an external and then every few thousand I burn a them onto a DVD and store them at my sweeties office in case the house burned. We sometimes have sever droughts and fires in the southwest....homes, computers, etc are lost.

You touch my heart through the way you see the world.
Hugs and Thank you,
RainforestRobin

Sorry to here about you comp problems. Good Luck. Great Picture. Where did you take it?

Ohhh....not good! A long long time ago I was working on my computer and at exactly midnight my entire hard drive was irrepairably (sp) fried. Thankfully that was before the time of digital photography, but I had all my genealogy research on it and lots of things I didn't even know I'd miss - kid's homework, address book, etc. I certainly feel your pain!

Wonderful picture, as always - Le Buffalo looks like he/she's saying: "You gonna mess with ME?"

Here's to smoother sailing!

So sorry you had a crash and glad you had backed up your pictures. I've had two big crashes in which I lost a lot of pictures and other things. You would think I would have learned.

Glad you are back in business and that you'll have your computer back.

Good luck with the computer. I had a computer hard drive go bad on me a few years ago and I lost over 1000 photos. I know now backing up is a very good idea.

Beautiful photo! I hope you get things sorted out with the computer.
