Last weekend I went out with my friend Susan from Ironside Bird Rescue, to release this gorgeous baby golden eagle back into the wild. This beautiful bird came out of the cage and paused for a few moments on this rock ledge to inspect it's new home. A spectacular and breath taking sight to see these beauties spread their wings and take flight.

It has to be so moving to see him fly to freedom. What a sight!
So, all deer-like creatures shed...I thought some didn't - thanks for the education! How about mountain goats and big-horn sheep? I don't think they shed...I really must read up on my wildlife!
Your photo is just wonderful, as always.
Wow, what an honor it must be for you to work with these magnificent birds.
That is just fantastic Stacey! Good luck to this special guy!
Thanks for bringing us this beauty!
Stacey: That youngster is the beautiful Golden Eagle I've ever seen.
Godspeed. He's amazing.
Hi Stacey,
You have posted a lot of super images since I visited last and I enjoyed catching up on your blog.
I absolutely love the close-up shot of the mule deer buck. Beautiful!
What a gorgeous golden eagle, Stacey. It's so great that you're helping these creatures. I need your help with identification. Two nights ago I took a photo of either a Merlin or a female kestrel, so if you could go to my site (posting of 10-7-08) and let me know. If the photo is too small to ID, I could upload a larger one. Thanks, Brenda

Absolute majesty. I hope he does well...all our babies have to leave eventually. Right?
WoW and WoW !
For both the Mule Deer and the eagle!
Excellent!
Cheers, Klaus
Can I come with you next time Stacey!! Wish I was there...I rarely get to see Goldens...love his stockings on his legs..the feathers go way down..oh he is just so lovely.
Stacey,
Thanks so much for taking the shots of my baby girls at the time they flew away. You do such good work in both your photography and in aiding the birds to become what they should be, wild and free.

Great shot of a beautiful bird. It must have been quite an experience to be a part of setting it free again and watching it take flight. How exciting!
