First time commenting but not first time visiting. You are one brave soul taking these shots. I hope you had a well extended lens. Beautiful shots. One mean looking snake. Have a great day.

I love snakes Stacey but I hope to never run into one of his kin here in the south! Not the ones with sharp pointy fangs that make you sick anyway!!!

One of the few of God's creatures that I do NOT want to run into.

Ah the mighty snake. He has his place outside and away from me. I am not afraid of them just respectful. I tell people I am bigger than them. Peace

I love snakes, but the poisonous varieties give me a fright. I probably would have backed away from this one...fabulous capture!!

I have a huge phobia about snakes -- I can't even look at pictures of them without getting really creeped out. Sorry... From the little brief bit I saw they looked like great photos though... (I'll listen to your music for a bit and see if I can receive some healing)

Yeah, so I hope I'm never that close to this kind of snake. I can remember as a kid being chased into a cave by a rattler that we didn't see coiled up by the entrance. Getting out was fun.

Wow Fantastic what an absolutely stunning set of pics, I can tell you Stacey 1200mm would not have been long enough for me "Strikenly Done" And looking at it from the UK is to darn close for me.

Excellent pics of the rattler. Thank the goddess for long lenses.

Ooh! I stumbled across one of these when I was visiting Hovenweep National Monument in Utah a few years back. These are great captures, the angle of the light and shadows is just perfect.

What a beautiful snake! I love the way they look but I've only encountered grass-snake so far. Don't know if it's fortunate or not. I'm crazy enough to start making a shot of a poisonous creature and who knows whether it likes photographers or not.

I really don't like snakes, but they do have a beautiful way about them. The diffent types and colors to me are what makes the snakes photogenic. The pics are really good.

Certainly hope you were taking these with your zoom lens. I've never seen a rattler in the wild. Hope it stays that way. Great pics!

After living in the Texas desert for 10 years, this is a familiar site. Beautiful, but with a nasty bite. I'm staying clear of any snake that is for sure!!...debbie

That snake is Crotalus viridis, if anyone's curious.
